The Peace Lily (Spathiphyllum friedrichsthalii) This is the flower of the peace lily, a beautiful plant in the family called Araceae. The peace lily grows in swamps and has about four leaves that are three feet (one meter) tall, and only one "flower." However, this flower is a compound flower, called an inflorescence, with many smaller flowers in it. At night, the male frogs come down to the swamp and sing to attract females. Often I have found them singing from the peace lilies. Maybe girl frogs like to get flowers and that is why the male sings from a peace lily. Peace lilies are very popular house plants, and maybe you have one in your house. The flowers smell wonderful. They are a part of the rainforest you can keep at home!
